Hi, I'm Payton, but everyone calls me Kap.

I grew up on handhelds, and I fell back in love with them right before my child was born, when I modded and shell-swapped a DS to pass the time in a hospital waiting room. Since then I've modded and restored over 75 consoles.

I taught myself with YouTube, books and a lot of hands-on practice, and I've made my share of mistakes. Early on I tore a brand-new screen cable on a repair, bought another screen, and the customer still got exactly what they paid for. If a repair goes sideways, I step away, figure out what went wrong, and come back. I'd rather lose a little time than break another part.

My first customer job was a Game Boy handed down to a friend. I got it working and modded it while keeping the original shell, because some consoles are more than hardware.

Kap's Retro Rescue is family-run. My fiancé shoots the before-and-after photos, my little brother helps edit, and I do the repairs after the kids are asleep.

I'm not in this for quick money. I just love retro, and I'll treat your console like it's mine.
